Billy Joel gave some of his biggest fans the memory of a lifetime when he unexpectedly pulled up on them during a day out in New York City.
The '80s rock legend was cruising through Manhattan when his car passed a pedicab toting two tourists through town while blasting "New York State of Mind," leading him to roll his window down and make himself known.
He shook hands with the stunned cyclist, who couldn't believe his eyes at first, before turning his attention to the women in the carriage, who were quick to inquire about his health after the rock legend left fans worried for his well-being when he canceled his whole concert tour shortly after a viral fall on stage, later revealing a diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, which affects his vision, balance and hearing.
"We're in a New York State of Mind…always 🩷," he captioned the candid clip.

Fans were so glad for a glimpse at the "wonderful scene," applauding Joel as "just the best" for the sweet interaction.
"How ADORABLE is THIS?!??!?!?♥️♥️♥️," someone else exclaimed.
"That's what a Star does. Shines for its fans," another fan complimented, as someone else praised, "that's quite the city tour complete with our favorite NYer."
"This made my day!!" another follower wrote, quipping, "I would have a heart attack-ack-ack if this happened ❤️."
"The genuine joy and love that people feel toward you and for you. I just hope you receive that," another kindly pointed out.
"You look fantastic!" another gushed. "Hope you are 100% very soon. But enjoy your break."
"How ARE you feeling, Billy????" someone else reiterated, exclaiming that they were "BEHIND YOU ALL THE WAY!!!!!"
While the Piano Man kept his answer to the ladies' question between the four of them, he did tell Bill Maher on the latest episode of the Club Random podcast that he "feel[s] good."
His condition is "not fixed, it's still being worked on," but these days he's "feel[ing] fine."
"My balance sucks. It's like being a boat. It used to be called 'water on the brain,' and now it's called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus," he added. "I think they keep referring to what I have as a brain disorder. So, it sounds a lot worse than what I'm feeling, you know."
