Princess Anne's horse accident last year may have been more severe than the public was initially led to believe.

In a recent article from The Sunday Times, it was revealed that the 74-year-old Royal's 2024 fall allegedly left her with far worse injuries than initially reported. A source close to the royal said to the outlet, "Her accident was so much worse than anyone let on, and it took quite a while for her to feel herself again."

The incident took place in June 2024, when Princess Anne was hospitalized for five days following after she "sustained minor injuries and concussion," from a fall at her Gatcombe Park estate. Though Buckingham Palace assured the public that she was expected to make a swift recovery, the exact circumstances were unclear. The injuries she sustained suggested a possible impact from a horse's head or legs.

According to the outlet, while touring South Africa back in January, Anne reflected on the accident to the Press Association, saying, "It just reminds you, shows you — you never quite know, something [happens] and you might not recover," she said. Despite the gravity of the situation, she reassured fans that there were no long-term effects, adding, "You are sharply reminded that every day is a bonus really."

Elsewhere in the article, the Princess noted how she plans to work until she's 90 years old. "She has said her plan is to push on [with work] until she is 80, then start winding down a bit, and then copy the [late] Duke of Edinburgh and wind down completely at 90," the sources stated of Anne's 15 year plan.

Anne's plan for a lengthy career should come as no surprise, as her father, Prince Phillip, worked up until age 96. He passed away three years later.
