Jessica Chastain's upcoming political thriller has been delayed indefinitely by Apple TV+.
The Savant, which follows an investigator infiltrating domestic extremist groups, will no longer premiere on Sept. 26, a representative for the streamer confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.
"After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone 'The Savant,'" the spokesperson said in a statement. "We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date."

The streaming service declined to comment on the reason for the postponement.
The announcement comes in the wake of Charlie Kirk's killing at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, which prompted a wave of widespread conversations and concern about political violence.
The eight-episode miniseries stars Chastain as Jodi Goodwin, an undercover agent who attempts to prevent attacks from online hate groups before they occur.
"I track people who are planning attacks," Jodi says in the series' trailer. "My job is pretending to think like them to stop those people from doing really bad things."
She later warns, "This guy isn't just planning violence — he's out to make a statement. The kind that history refers to with a month and a date."
The Savant also stars Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, James Badge Dale, and Pablo Schreiber. Andrea Stanley, who wrote a 2019 Cosmopolitan feature about an investigator known as the Savant, serves as a consultant on the series.

Melissa James Gibson, who previously worked on House of Cards and The Americans, created and executive produced the series. American Symphony filmmaker and Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison are among the show's directors.
A new premiere date has yet to be announced.

The Savant is not the first program to make a significant change in the wake of Kirk's death. MSNBC fired political analyst Matthew Dowd after he opined that Kirk pushed "hate speech aimed at certain groups," and argued that "hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions." Dowd later apologized and clarified his comments.
Later, ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live after host Jimmy Kimmel suggested that "the MAGA gang" was "desperately trying to characterize" Kirk's alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, "as anything other than one of them." The suspension is set to end on Tuesday night, though ABC affiliates Nexstar and Sinclair are still opting out of airing the show on their stations.
