Brett Goldstein and Drew Barrymore found themselves getting extremely up close and personal during Tuesday's episode of *The Drew Barrymore Show*. **
At the start of their interview, the *Ted Lasso *star acknowledged that he was familiar with Barrymore's propensity for getting cozy with talk show guests and challenged her to a game of couch chicken. **
"Drew, I have made a deal with myself," Goldstein declared, scooting closer to her. "I've seen your show and every time you move nearer me, I'm gonna move nearer you. So this is now a game of chicken, okay?" **
Barrymore seemed surprised by the tactic. "Wow, someone's gonna give me a run for my money?" she said. "Okay, I'll take it."

Over the last six seasons of her talk show, Barrymore has fielded both criticism and praise for her signature snug interviews, which often see her holding hands, rubbing shoulders, and hugging her guests. She has previously admitted that she's working on keeping a bit of space between her and guests these days but, as she told Goldstein, "this is how I really am with my friends."
Barrymore continued, "If you see me walking down the street with someone, I will be holding their hand, I'll be arm in arm, I'll be hugging them. None of this is fake. If anything, I really do have to retrain myself." **
"This is a daytime show, right? So there's limits," Goldstein teased, to which Barrymore replied, "Eh!" **
The pair kept it cool and remained knee-to-knee for a majority of their interview until Barrymore asked Goldstein about his love of her and Adam Sandler's 2004 film,* 50 First Dates*.

"*50 First Dates *is one of my favorite films," Goldstein declared, prompting Barrymore to squeal excitedly and pull him into a hug. **
The pair remained committed to the bit even when they pulled away, continuing to sit close together while Goldstein shared his deep appreciation for the rom-com. **
"I think it is so beautiful, that film. You two are so wonderful together," he said of her and Sandler. "But it's also like, as a concept, I think it's the most romantic idea and I love that at the end she isn't cured. There's no … every day they have to start again and show why they love each other. It's the most romantic idea in the world. It's a beautiful film."

Goldstein eventually began to laugh when he recognized just how close they were both sitting. "What, what?!" Barrymore asked, to which he replied, "I'm just realizing what's happening."**
Barrymore took it up a level by putting her arms on Goldstein's leg and sticking her face right next to his before she couldn't take the closeness and ultimately admitted defeat.

"How about this?" she asked, scooting away until she and Goldstein were on opposite ends of the couch. Goldstein admitted, "This is less fun, you're right."
"It does feel very different," Barrymore remarked. "We also both crossed our arms, which I think is interesting. We're really setting a boundary."**
Goldstein joked, "We've really developed some codependency over here and then over here we were like, 'If you're leaving, I'm leaving.'" **
Barrymore ultimately noted that it "feels weird" to be such a great distance apart before hopping over and pulling Goldstein into a hug. "Thank you, Drew," he said. So, maybe they both won in the end?
