The ever-so-colorful Cardi B reflected on her viral court experience during a recent appearance on Jennifer Hudson's eponymous daytime talk show.

The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almánzar, was involved in a civil assault trial in August stemming from allegations that she attacked a security guard, identified as Emani Ellis, inside a Beverly Hills medical building in 2018 before an appointment with her obstetrician while pregnant with her first child. A jury found Cardi, who denied the allegations, not liable earlier this month following a kooky and highly-publicized trial, which even featured the rapper appearing to doze off during closing arguments.

"I'm not even going to lie, I was," Cardi told Hudson of falling asleep. "I had a long night! I'm in the middle of an album rollout. I was so sleepy. I was trying to fight it, but I just couldn't."**

Cardi is preparing for the release of her sophomore studio album titled *Am I the Drama?*, out on Sept. 19.

She also addressed all of the other memes that were born out of the trial, including Ellis' attorney asking her about her various wigs throughout the trial and her throwing a pen at a reporter outside of the courthouse for asking a "disrespectful" question about paternity rumors.**

"It's hard to be me, honey," Cardi told Hudson. "I was very upset that it's like, I'm in the middle of an album rollout and I have to go to court, and when I get to court, I realize that it's going to be on national TV. Like, you've got to be kidding me."

The rapper lamented that she had to miss her children's first days of school due to the trial.**

"But I was just like, you know what, at least it's positive press," Cardi said. "I usually get bad press, but I got positive press. It be Jesus! Jesus got a sense of humor, you know."

Ellis and her representation, of course, were none too pleased with the virality of the trial, criticizing Cardi's conduct as "totally unprofessional" while speaking to reporters outside of the courthouse after the case concluded earlier this month. The rapper's "body language, body gestures, facial expressions, [and] disrespect for the court speaks to who she is," Ellis' attorney said (via CNN).

Cardi, meanwhile, told the reporters that day, "I hope that this is something I leave behind."**
