Rob has maintained a close relationship with all of his siblings off-camera
Rob Kardashian appeared on reality television for the first time in nine years on the premiere of The Kardashians.
Rob was just 20 years old when he began showcasing his life on Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2007, and he took a step back from the public eye in 2016. He later explained that he stopped making public appearances — including on his family's Hulu show — because he was "not comfortable" with himself.
"Like, I'm not comfortable in my skin, so why would I wanna go be on camera and just be vulnerable and let people in?" he told sister Khloé Kardashian on a July 2025 episode of her podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land. "That's not what I wanna do."
Around the same time Rob prioritized his privacy, he welcomed his first daughter, Dream Kardashian, with ex-fiancée Blac Chyna. Rob has frequently expressed his love and pride for his daughter on social media.
Over the years, he has slowly started reappearing on both his own and his sisters' social media pages while attending various birthday parties, holidays and other celebrations. During The Kardashians' season 7 premiere, on Oct. 23, Rob joined his family on-screen to say goodbye to their legendary home.
Here's everything to know about where Rob Kardashian is now and why he stepped back from the spotlight.
Rob is the youngest of Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian's children

Rob, who was born in 1987, is the youngest child and the only son of Kris Jenner and Robert Kardashian. When the former couple were married from 1978 to 1991, they also welcomed Kourtney, Kim and Khloé, in that order.
The four children were raised in Los Angeles and continued living there after Robert and Kris divorced in 1991, and she went on to marry Caitlyn Jenner. Rob had a close relationship with his dad until his death in 2003. Similar to his other siblings, Rob frequently honors his dad on social media.
"Happy Birthday Dad! Thank You for giving me only good memories with you," he captioned a photo of his dad with Kris in February 2024. "I miss You every day. I Love You so much."
When Kris and her children — including Kendall and Kylie Jenner — started starring on their reality TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2007, Rob was 20 years old.

Rob became a father when he welcomed his first child, a daughter named Dream Renée Kardashian, with Chyna on Nov. 10, 2016. Rob and Chyna started dating in January of that year and were engaged by April, but they split in 2017 after making several allegations about each other.
Despite initial debates over custody, in August 2025, Chyna told PEOPLE that her co-parenting relationship with Rob is "100 percent amazing."
"For parents that's going through it right now, I promise you, things do get better," she shared. "If you're going through a custody battle or anything of the sort, I think the main thing for the other parent is to mind their own business."
Rob has frequently shared updates on his daughter on social media. He posts pictures and videos of Dream dancing, playing with her cousins, dressing up and competing in sports.

Shortly after Rob welcomed Dream and in the midst of his split from Chyna, he took a hiatus from the spotlight. In 2016, he had his last major television appearance on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and his and Chyna's own spinoff show, Rob & Chyna.
Around the time he started easing away from public life, Rob faced a myriad of challenges — including a defamation lawsuit filed by Chyna against his family and drug abuse, alcohol abuse and infidelity claims made between the former couple. The Kardashian-Jenner family ended up winning in Chyna's lawsuit against them in 2022.
Rob's disappearance from the limelight previously sparked concern, but Khloé has assured fans that he's alright and just prefers his privacy. In 2023, Khloé shared on The Kardashians that Rob "has been through a lot personally," but he was "feeling really good about himself and I'm happy for him, so I have faith that, soon, he'll be back on the show."
Rob also addressed his absence in July 2025 and told Khloé on her podcast that his step away from the spotlight "has everything to do with myself."
"There's definitely nothing wrong between any of us," Rob said of his sisters, while adding that he hasn't been on the show or attending events because he doesn't "wanna be filming and putting myself in a position where I'm not comfortable."
He added, "I'm not gonna just put myself out there if I'm not comfortable with myself. I haven't been comfortable with myself in years. And I choose my own happiness and peace [over] just filming for somebody who doesn't do anything for me in my personal life."
However, when Khloé asked if he'd ever think about rejoining reality TV, Rob teased that he'd be interested as long as the filming environment was "positive" and "natural."
"I like being around my family, so that stuff is good to me," he continued. "Obviously, I have nothing against it. The reason I don't is because I'm a homebody and I just choose, like I said, my peace and happiness."

While Rob has not been on TV or attended public events in nearly a decade, he has slowly started easing back into more moments with his family shared on social media. In June 2023, Rob returned to Instagram and shared a rare selfie of himself with Khloé to wish her a happy birthday.
Nearly two years later, Rob took a family picture with his mom, sisters, nieces, nephews and Dream during their Easter celebration in April 2025. Kim posted the sweet snap that showed Rob smiling while placing his arm around Kris.
Rob made another appearance on Kim's Instagram in June when she posted a selfie of herself with Rob and close friend La La Anthony for her birthday. The three smiled as they dined at a restaurant for the celebration.

Despite living a more private life than the rest of his family members, Rob still maintains a close relationship with them and even lives near Khloé.
"I call him the Wizard, from The Wizard of Oz, cause he likes to be behind the curtain," Khloé said during an April 2025 episode of her Khloé in Wonder Land podcast. "We all live in the same gated area, so he lives right next door to me."
While all of the family members have close bonds, Khloé told Bustle in December 2024 that she can "identify with him" on a different level.
"I feel so deeply what he feels — the struggles that he has, or just wanting to be out of the public eye, or just feeling like he doesn't fit in or is being judged about his appearance," she said. "I feel like we were raised in pairs: It was Kourtney and Kim, and then it was me and Rob, and then Kendall and Kylie. And I just feel like we are both each other's protectors. I love him so much. It's just innate."
Rob has also expressed a similar sentiment about Khloé and wrote in a June 2023 birthday post to her that he doesn't "know what I would do without you."
"Wishing you nothing but good health and happiness forever my darling buttercup ! I love you so much and so thankful to have u in my life and for all that U do for Dream and I," he wrote.

After a nine-year hiatus from his family's reality TV reign, Rob appeared on The Kardashians for the first time during the Oct. 23 season 7 premiere. Rob joined his sisters and mom — and later Caitlyn — to part ways with their beloved former family home.
During the episode, Kris got emotional while telling Rob that it "means the world" that he showed up to support them on the big day. Khloé reiterated the sentiment in her confessional and said that they're also hoping he "comes back to the show."
"Rob is doing well, he's alive," Khloé added in her confessional. "The conspiracies run wild. One of the main ones is that he lives with me. He's in our shadows and we don't want to have him around us. He's not miserable person who lives under a bridge ... we're totally fine!"
Kim also spoke about her brother and admitted that she misses having him on their show, because "he's just so funny."
"It would be great if he would regularly be back on," Kim added. "That's the goal."
Meanwhile, Kourtney said that she and Rob are "very similar in a lot of ways." She continued, "He's super sweet, the funniest person I know. I love having him around."
