Adam Sandler is shedding some light on the real-world experiences behind an "SNL50" joke that stirred speculation.
Earlier this year, Sandler made a quip during his "Saturday Night Live" anniversary monologue about major stars turning out to be antisemitic. Now the actor, who starred on the sketch comedy show in the 90s, is revealing that multiple musicians inspired his joke.
In an interview with Vulture published Aug. 26, Sandler refused to name the specific star, saying instead: "Well, you know, whoever wants to grab that one, it's up to them. I can't say a specific, because sadly, there's been a few."

When the joke first hit the airwaves during the February special, fans were quick to offer up theories on who Sandler might be referring to. Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, has hosted "SNL" several times and been publicly condemned in recent years for his derogatory remarks about Jewish people.
Sandler, however, is choosing to remain mum for now. He's closing the book on a record year, following the release of "Happy Gilmore 2," a long-awaited sequel to his much-beloved 1996 comedy, which pulls together a star-studded cast including cameos from Bad Bunny and Travis Kelce, who just got engaged to pop star Taylor Swift.
Sandler is also set to head out on a stand-up tour, his first in years, in early September. The You're My Best Friend tour will stop everywhere from Baltimore to Las Vegas, and it runs through November.
