Rachel Dratch is looking back on her decades of being funny on SNL!

While speaking exclusively with PEOPLE at the opening night of Shakespeare in the Park's Twelfth Night in New York City, the comedian, 59, revealed the biggest lesson she's learned from Saturday Night Live.

"Have fun, because if you're having fun, that translates to the audience. If you're like, 'Oh, I hope this goes really well,' then you're not really in the moment," Dratch says of the big lesson she learned from SNL.

From 1999 to 2006, Dratch was a main cast member on the sketch comedy series. She's known for her recurring character Debbie Downer. The comedian has continued to make cameos over the years as Debbie Downer, politician Amy Klobuchar and Olympic breakdancer Raygun.

As for if she'll ever say goodbye to the hit show, the comedian says, "Anytime they call, you come running. So no, I would always say yes to SNL. It's always fun to go back."

Dratch reprised her Debbie Downer role in a sketch with Robert De Niro during the SNL50: The Anniversary Special in February.

The comedian — whose Broadway debut in 2022's POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive earned her a Tony Award nomination — was most recently seen at the starry opening night for Twelfth Night.

Twelfth Night follows twins Sebastian and Viola, portrayed respectively by real-life siblings Junior Nyong'o and Lupita Nyong'o, as they "survive shipwreck, revenge plots, and the trick doors of love," per a synopsis.

Dratch says she "always" loves Shakespeare in the Park productions, but was drawn to this production by a special somebody.

"Jesse Tyler Ferguson is a pal. I always love seeing him perform and I love Twelfth Night. There's so many reasons to be here," the comedian says.

Shakespeare in the Park's Twelfth Night runs through Sept. 14.
